IMPORTANCE OF INTRANET AND EXTRANET IN
CORPORATE COMMUNICATION
An extranet refers to the
private network that uses internet technology and the public telecommunication
system to securely share part of business information or operations with suppliers,
vendors, partners, customers or other businesses. An extranet is restricted to
select users through user IDs, passwords and other authentication mechanism on
a log in page.
Intranet refers
to the private –internal business network that enables the employees to share
information, collaborate and improve their communication. It is a business own
private website. Common intranet components are administrative, corporate,
financial, IT, marketing, human resources, individual projects and external
information sources.
The
importance or advantages of intranet towards corporate communication are that
follows;
Better internal communication
Corporate
information such as memos, staff news and announcements can be stored centrally
and accessed at any time. So this will help in enhancing internal communication
as information concerning an organization will be available any time and will
be stored in a safe and central manner.
