 IMPORTANCE OF INTRANET AND EXTRANET IN CORPORATE COMMUNICATION
 An extranet refers to the private network that uses internet technology and the public telecommunication system to securely share part of business information or operations with suppliers, vendors, partners, customers or other businesses. An extranet is restricted to select users through user IDs, passwords and other authentication mechanism on a log in page.
Intranet refers to the private –internal business network that enables the employees to share information, collaborate and improve their communication. It is a business own private website. Common intranet components are administrative, corporate, financial, IT, marketing, human resources, individual projects and external information sources.
The importance or advantages of intranet towards corporate communication are that follows;
Better internal communication
Corporate information such as memos, staff news and announcements can be stored centrally and accessed at any time. So this will help in enhancing internal communication as information concerning an organization will be available any time and will be stored in a safe and central manner.
Productivity
An intranet is the home for employees’ ideas. It access to all the tools and information and tools they need to effectively perform that days tasks, everyday can go a thousand miles for improving productivity. Some of the tools and information are latest events and meetings, outstanding task, new discussions, important documents, relevant news and e-mails.
It allows managers and employees to communicate easily and share information across the organization
Intranet helps members of an organization to communicate effectively and easily sharing of different information concerning the business a thing which will help an organization communication system to grow stronger day after day hence success of the business.

Better access to accurate and consistent information by  the staff member will lead to enhancement of the levels of customer services as employees will be informed early on the different issues concerning the business objectives so that will  make the employees to act accordingly so as to satisfy the customers hence improvement of customer care services.

As the extranet allows remote and mobile staffs to access the core business information daily irrespective of location. This self -serve approach reduce unnecessary meetings and phone tags and cuts down on the costs associated with in person information exchange.
